On Friday 21st of December 2018, the Sosath stud celebrated an atmospheric "Breeders' Advent". New stallions, established sires and their families were presented in the Christmassy decorated indoor arena. Everyone mingled and danced to live music until late at night.
Five young stallions that came from the main licensings will enrich the stallion collection of the station next season.
The star of the evening was the two-year-old Vivaldos, a son of Vivaldi x Desperados x Brentano II. The Hanoverian premium stallion impressed with his modern type and outstanding movements in hand. On the screen, the breeders got an impression of the licensing, where he became one of the public favorites. His dam, Doris Day, was the Champion Mare of Herwart-von-der-Decken-Schau and Friedrich Jahncke-Schau, Hanoverian Championesse and Bundeschampionesse in Warendorf.
The second Hanoverian premium stallion Soundcheck by Stakkato Gold x Carthago x Cor de la Bryère was also convincing in front of a large audience. The breeder, Josef-Jonas Sprehe, who rode the dam successfully in international classes, made it to Lemwerder to see him live.
Vigo by Vigo d'Arsouilles x Contendro I x Landadel combines international performance blood. He was shown in hand in an age-appropriate manner. On the screen the spectators could see the impressive performance of his father Vigo d'Arsouilles at the world championship in Lexington/Kentucky.
The new stallion Casino Rubin, who is bred by Gerd Sosath was shown in a family picture. In addition to his father Casino Grande, grandfather Casino Berlin, who recently placed seventh in the traditional 'Sires of the World', was also shown.
Rider Rieke Schnieder presented the three-year-old Gin Tonic by double vice world champion Governor x Jazz x Glennridge under saddle. Together with her trainer Hans-Heinrich Meyer zu Strohen, she demonstrated how to train a young dressage horse. Hans-Heinrich Meyer also gave interesting insights into dressage training for the other two dressage stallions, Van Primero by Van Vivaldi and Florenz by Florencio x Sandro Hit.
In addition to the youngsters, the oldest sire of the Sosath stud impressed the audience: Lordanos, who is almost 26 years old and looking really good, was introduced by the team of the insemination station, Rainer Böning and Janet Bröschky. The five-year-old OS main premium winner Comme Prévu by Comme il faut was presented in hand. Casalido by Casall and Ogano by Ogano Sitte were jumped by Hendrik Sosath. Together with Gerd Sosath, they gave insights into the daily training.
The second family picture was all about the stallion mother Lady Heida II. Her two daughters Cadora by Catoki, successful in 1.50 m competitions, Lady Cadora OLD by Catoki, Oldenburg-International Mare Champion of 2014 and Vice County Champion of the six-year-old jumpers 2017, and son Cador by Catoki, successful in 1.55 m competition, as well as granddaughter Lady Corlina by Casiro entered the arena with their mother.
It was the first time that the guests got to see outstanding sport ponies. Gerd Sosath explained: "Our grandchildren brought our focus to the smallest horses. We are happy that one of the most successful and professional pony riders, Danica Duen, started a collaboration with us." Danica Duen and her family presented the current Young Stallion Champion Neverland WE in hand and the double 'Bundeschampion' Cosmo Royale under saddle.
In between the presentations, the musician Jan Ahlers laid a festive atmosphere on. Many breeders mingled and celebrated until late at night. The event was shown by ClipMyHorse. Premium-members can watch it in the archive.
The next events of the Sosath Stud are already planned. On Saturday, the 9th of February 2019, the big stallion show will take place at the horse center at Vechta. The Open Day with the Lemwerder foal championship will be at Easter Saturday, the 20st of April 2019.
